The Covid 19 pandemic has drastically changed lives across the world. We’ve had to adjust to new routines and new ways of life such as social distancing, working from home, online schooling, and keeping a distance from loved ones.

Children’s lives and routines have dramatically changed as well. The focus on washing hands, being weary of germs and bacteria, social distancing, being away from friends, teachers, and extended family members can cause a lot of stress and anxiety for kids. Loneliness, which was already a concern for many prior to COVID-19, may be exasperated during this time.

Our two month weekly program for children ages 8 to 11 years old will address the issues arising from the current conditions in which we live. This group will address issues pertaining to loneliness, changes in social interaction, fear, and difficulties adjusting to change. Through this therapeutic group, kids will have the opportunity to make new connections with peers and participate in activities that promote healthy social skills, mindfulness, and self-awareness. Children will enhance their emotional intelligence, promoting healthy communication of feelings, and develop the tools to manage and cope with stress and anxiety.
